Pipe bridges and gantries are critical to utility distribution in process industries, enabling the safe and efficient routing of pipework, electrical, and control services while preserving clear production and access areas. At Ambrey Baker, we design and construct these structures to meet the stringent safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements of food, pharmaceutical, and chemical facilities.
Structural design is undertaken in accordance with Eurocode 3 (BS EN 1993) and BS EN 1090, considering pipe loads, fluid contents, thermal expansion, maintenance access, and environmental actions. Pipe support arrangements are engineered to control movement and vibration while maintaining serviceability and allowing for future process modifications.
Compliance is integral to our design approach. Utilities are routed with appropriate segregation to minimise contamination risk and support GMP-compliant layouts, with electrical systems designed in accordance with BS 7671 and IEC 61936-1. Where applicable, designs account for hazardous area classifications in line with ATEX and DSEAR, ensuring safe separation and protection of electrical and process services.
Durability and cleanability are key considerations in process environments. Materials and protective coatings are specified in accordance with ISO 12944, with detailing that avoids debris traps and supports washdown, inspection, and validation activities. Our pipe bridge and gantry solutions deliver robust, compliant infrastructure that enhances process safety, supports efficient production, and provides long-term operational resilience
