Paul’s extensive career in regulated industrial sectors spans nearly 40 years, working with global brands in Advanced Manufacturing and FMCG. A Chartered Engineer and Expert Witness across multiple disciplines, Paul has delivered complex mega-projects through international contracting and consultancy businesses.
In 1995, Paul founded his first major Engineering Architecture and Construction Management consultancy business, which he then built from the ground up. Over the next decade, he acquired two additional firms, transforming that company into a world-class, technology-driven design, and project management consultancy. By the time he sold the business in 2018, it had become a trusted advisor to dozens of blue-chip clients, successfully delivering business-critical capital projects in regulated, hygiene- and safety-critical environments, from inception to completion.
Paul has contributed his expertise in de-risking several multi-billion-pound projects in the UK and internationally, particularly in areas such as technical excellence, compliance, commercial governance, and risk management. His unique expertise blends an intimate knowledge of project risks and commercial controls with a broader understanding of business operations, compliance, and performance—particularly in first-of-a-kind businesses or projects.
Despite his entrepreneurial success, Paul’s passion for engineering remains at the forefront. He thrives on problem-solving and risk mitigation which are skills he combines with his business acumen to assist senior directors and company owners in developing and executing critical capital project investments successfully. His expertise spans business case development, planning applications, integrated facility and operational design, risk profiling, procurement strategies, contracts, client representation, and asset commissioning through to final handover.
Paul leads on strategically significant projects for Ambrey Baker and our Clients but occasionally will still act as a “burning platform fireman ”for old friends, legal teams, other major contractors, and consultancies, when they are facing critical challenges on industrial projects or investments and have need of Expert Opinion on technical or project recovery matters.
