Site Regeneration for New Industrial Development – Colwick, Nottingham
This Spring, Ambrey Baker has successfully completed a site regeneration project on two new industrial units for one of Nottingham’s oldest privately owned property companies, Radford Holdings.
The brownfield derelict site was located in a tightly restricted zone between neighbouring buildings, two “live” substations and a busy industrial estate access road. The 5-month JCT Design & Build Contract project was awarded after a competitive tender process.
This Colwick development allowed Ambrey Baker to re-engineer the M&E package, the ground solution for foundations, and floor slabs, creating a significant saving on cost and programme, whilst still complying with specifications, Building Control requirements and independently validated by a geotechnical consultant via testing.
Director, Paul Waldeck, an expert on industrial projects, leads Ambrey Baker’s design and capital project risk management services for the company’s clients, commented: “Colwick is a great example of collaboration between a client team and the Ambrey Baker led value chain to deliver a viable capital project within the necessary time and budget constraints.
We excel at small to medium-sized high-risk projects because they represent great opportunities for a flexible and entrepreneurial company like Ambrey Baker to innovate, resolve risk, challenges and constructively challenge design and specification to create value and certainty.”
