Our team delivers structural solutions to support services such as process pipework, refrigeration lines, compressed air systems, water services, gas pipework and cable containment. Each structure is designed to suit the layout, loading requirements and access needs of the facility, while allowing for safe inspection and maintenance over the long term.
Pipe bridges and gantries are commonly used to connect utilities between buildings, carry refrigeration pipework between plant rooms and cold stores, route process services across production areas, support electrical containment systems and maintain safe clearance over access roads, service yards and HGV routes.
Design development typically considers structural loads from pipework, insulation and fluid contents, thermal movement within services, maintenance access requirements, safe working clearances and integration with existing buildings and infrastructure. Structural steel elements are designed to the relevant standards for steel structures, including applicable parts of BS EN 1993 Eurocode 3 where required.
Where relevant, projects are delivered in line with applicable UK legislation and safety requirements. This may include the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and, for qualifying pressure systems, the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000.
Many pipe bridge installations take place within live industrial environments where production, refrigeration and logistics operations must continue throughout the works. Ambrey Baker plans these projects carefully, including phased installation, temporary service support where needed, lift planning and coordination with mechanical, refrigeration and electrical specialists, so that work can be completed safely and with minimal disruption.
