In manufacturing plants, cold storage facilities, distribution centres and port estates, lifting infrastructure must perform safely under repeated loads. It must also integrate with the building structure and day-to-day operations.
Ambrey Baker designs and installs lifting beams for the loads, spans and lifting requirements of each facility.
With almost 40 years of experience in demanding industrial environments, our team understands the structural, operational and safety considerations involved in delivering lifting infrastructure within both new-build and live operational sites.
Our service typically includes structural assessment, load evaluation and steelwork design coordination. We also manage installation and integration with the existing building structure. Lifting beams can support maintenance operations, plant replacement and production equipment installation. They can also support specialist goods handling within high-bay facilities.
Where required, our team designs and delivers lifting beam installations in line with relevant UK legislation and applicable standards. This may include the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), together with relevant structural steel design standards under BS EN 1993 Eurocode 3. Where non-fixed lifting attachments form part of the lifting arrangement, BS EN 13155 may also apply. Depending on the equipment and working environment, PUWER requirements may also need to be considered.
Our construction teams frequently deliver lifting beam installations within live industrial facilities. Production or storage operations can often continue throughout the works. Careful planning, phased installation and close coordination with site management help ensure the work is completed safely and with minimal disruption to operations.
