Equipment Decommissioning & Dismantling
Equipment decommissioning and dismantling involves the controlled shutdown, isolation and removal of plant machinery or production equipment.
This applies when equipment is no longer required or needs replacing.
These works are common during facility upgrades, production line changes, site closures and redevelopment projects.
With almost 40 years of experience, our team understands the technical and safety requirements involved. This includes removing heavy plant, processing equipment and supporting infrastructure.
Our approach begins with careful planning and coordination. This includes reviewing existing equipment layouts, identifying connections to utilities such as electrical systems, compressed air, gas, water and drainage, and developing safe isolation procedures.
We carry out works in accordance with relevant UK regulations including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 where hazardous materials or residues may be present.
Where required, we coordinate structural preparation works and remove equipment supports. We also manage safe lifting or dismantling of plant components. The process may also involve disconnecting services infrastructure, remove pipework or containment systems, and preparing areas for future installation works or building modifications.
Many projects take place within partially operational facilities. Our team plans activities to manage safety risks, control access and minimise disruption to ongoing operations. We develop method statements, isolation procedures and work sequencing. This helps ensure dismantling activities are completed safely and in accordance with site requirements.
