Thermal / Fire-Rated Wall Systems

Thermal and fire-rated wall systems are used in industrial buildings to support compartmentation, reduce heat transfer and limit the spread of fire between operational areas.
As part of a building’s wider fire strategy, these systems must be designed and installed in line with the relevant fire safety requirements, project-specific performance criteria and applicable industry guidance.
Ambrey Baker designs and installs fire-rated wall systems for industrial and food production environments where safety, compliance and operational performance are all essential.
With almost 40 years of experience working in complex industrial facilities, our team understands how fire protection systems must integrate with the building structure, service routes and day-to-day operations.
Fire-rated wall systems are commonly used to create fire compartments within buildings. Effective compartmentation helps slow the spread of fire and smoke, protect escape routes and limit the impact of fire across operational areas. Our installations are developed with reference to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Approved Document B, together with project-specific fire strategy requirements where applicable.
Where required, installations also take account of insurer requirements, third-party certification criteria and tested system performance data, including relevant FM guidance and LPCB-certified products or systems. Wall systems can be specified to achieve the fire resistance required for the building and its intended use, subject to the tested performance and certification of the selected system.
In food manufacturing environments, fire-rated wall systems must also suit hygienic operating conditions. Interfaces with floors, ceilings, services and cladding systems need to be sealed and finished so that fire performance is maintained and the completed environment remains suitable for production use. Ambrey Baker regularly integrates fire-rated walls with hygienic finishes, drainage systems and production layouts so that fire protection measures work alongside operational requirements.
Our work includes:
- Fire-rated wall construction and compartmentation systems
- Integration with fire doors and protected escape routes
- Fire-stopping around services, penetrations and structural interfaces
- Coordination with hygienic wall systems and industrial finishes
- Installation within operational industrial environments
Many of these projects take place in live facilities where maintaining safe operations is essential. Careful planning allows construction work to proceed while protecting staff, production processes and critical infrastructure.
Industrial facilities change as production processes expand, layouts are altered and compliance requirements develop. Fire-rated wall systems are often installed as part of wider refurbishment works, process alterations and fire safety upgrades. Ambrey Baker works with clients across food manufacturing, logistics and industrial sectors to design and install fire-resistant wall systems that support safe operation and compliance with project fire safety requirements.
With almost 40 years of experience delivering construction works within complex operational environments, our team provides practical solutions that protect people, infrastructure and production assets.
