Canteens

Canteens provide dedicated welfare spaces where employees can take breaks, prepare or consume food, and use a clean, comfortable area away from operational work zones.
In industrial facilities, these spaces must be planned around workforce numbers, hygiene standards, safe circulation, and practical day-to-day use.
Ambrey Baker supports the design, construction and refurbishment of workplace canteens within manufacturing plants, warehouses and commercial environments. Our work can include layout planning, seating and dining areas, food service or preparation zones where required, ventilation, drainage, and durable internal finishes suited to high-use settings.
All canteen facilities are developed with reference to UK workplace welfare requirements, including the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.
These regulations require suitable and sufficient rest facilities and facilities for employees to eat meals.
Materials and layouts are selected to support effective cleaning, long-term durability, and safe movement during busy shift patterns.
With almost 40 years of experience working in operational industrial environments, Ambrey Baker understands how welfare facilities need to integrate with the wider building.
Each canteen is planned to operate effectively within demanding workplaces while giving staff a practical and compliant space for breaks and meals.
