
Structural and/or Civil Engineer
Location: Sleaford, Lincolnshire
Contract: Full-time, permanent

The Role
Ambrey Baker is expanding its consultancy team and is seeking an experienced Structural and/or Civil Engineer to support the design and delivery of specialist industrial projects across the UK.
You will work on projects within food manufacturing, logistics, pharmaceutical, chemical and defence sectors, supporting clients from early feasibility and design development through to technical delivery and site activity.
The role will suit an engineer with strong technical capability, commercial awareness and confidence working alongside clients, architects, contractors and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and review structural and/or civil engineering designs for industrial developments.
- Support feasibility studies, concept design, technical development and detailed design work.
- Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and design information.
- Coordinate structural and civil design requirements with architects, MEP consultants, contractors and wider project teams.
- Use AutoCAD and Revit to prepare, review and coordinate design information.
- Attend project meetings, surveys, inspections and site visits across the UK.
- Support technical queries during pre-construction and construction stages.
- Identify design risks and contribute to practical, buildable solutions.
- Ensure design work complies with relevant legislation, standards and project requirements.
- Support project programmes, design deliverables and client communication.
- Contribute to the continued growth and technical development of Ambrey Baker’s consultancy offer.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Proven experience in a structural engineering, civil engineering or combined structural and civil engineering role.
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working on commercial, industrial or technically complex construction projects.
- Strong AutoCAD and Revit capability.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly with clients, project teams and contractors.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and attend site visits when required.
Desirable Experience
- Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer status, or clear progression towards IEng or CEng Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers or a relevant professional body.
- Experience within food manufacturing, cold chain, logistics, pharmaceutical, chemical, defence or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Experience of industrial facilities, warehouse developments, production environments or specialist refurbishment projects.
- Knowledge of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes and design standards.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design information.
- Experience supporting projects through construction and site delivery.
