Our work covers design, construction, refurbishment and project management for clients requiring practical, cost-controlled delivery in operational environments.
We are seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team and support the financial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
The Role
As Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team with cost control, procurement, valuations, subcontract administration and project reporting.
You will work alongside senior commercial colleagues, project managers, design teams, suppliers and subcontractors. The role will provide structured exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of industrial construction projects, with support to develop your technical knowledge and professional experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with cost planning, budgeting, forecasting and project cost reporting.
- Support the preparation of valuations, applications for payment, cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
- Help monitor project expenditure, variations, risks and opportunities.
- Assist with the preparation and administration of subcontract packages, orders and agreements.
- Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Support procurement activities for materials, specialist packages and subcontract works.
- Maintain accurate records of costs, contractual correspondence, variations and payment information.
- Assist with the assessment of subcontractor applications and final accounts.
- Support senior team members with NEC, JCT and bespoke contract administration.
- Attend site visits, project meetings, client meetings and commercial reviews when required.
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets and supporting information for senior management.
- Build effective working relationships with project teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Support tender reviews and pre-construction commercial activity where required.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline, or active progress towards a relevant qualification.
- Experience gained through a placement, graduate role, trainee position or early-career Quantity Surveying role.
- Interest in commercial management within construction, industrial development or specialist facilities.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage tasks accurately and meet deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence, or ability to travel to UK project sites when required.
Desirable Experience
