Peter Coils is SHEQ Manager at Ambrey Baker, responsible for leading the company’s safety, health, environmental and quality functions across its industrial and construction projects.

With more than 20 years of experience across construction, manufacturing, engineering and facilities management, Peter has extensive knowledge of managing safety, quality and environmental performance within complex, multi-site organisations. He has held national leadership roles and supported executive teams in maintaining compliant, efficient and well-managed operations across the UK and Ireland.

In his role, Peter leads the development and implementation of company-wide SHEQ strategies. His responsibilities include regulatory compliance, risk management, behavioural change and the continuous improvement of operational performance. He has extensive experience managing systems aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, as well as developing practical processes that support operational teams.

Peter has worked on major construction, infrastructure, logistics and facilities projects, including developments for Jaguar Land Rover, Imperial College London and Amazon, as well as the M25 expansion programme. His experience covers project mobilisation, contractor management, high-risk work coordination and compliance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations.

Throughout his career, Peter has managed SHEQ performance across more than 100 live locations and worked closely with senior stakeholders, contractors, external partners and regulatory bodies. His approach combines technical knowledge with commercial awareness, helping ensure that SHEQ requirements support project delivery, programme objectives and budget considerations.
